A Special Thank You from Ms. Y.
Thank you so much for your support of teacher classrooms...especially mine! Your gift has given our classroom a much needed rug to accommodate our increased class size of 30 students. Now each and every student has an assigned spot - which makes my students and their teacher happier. The classroom rug is where we spend the majority of our learning. Students listen as I read a story, teach a math lesson, print on their whiteboards, pass out paperwork, do independent work, etc. They absolutely love, Love, LOVE this rug! Before the rug's arrival, my 30 students sat awkwardly in and around the 24 seater rug. When they first saw the new rug, they literally stood around it, enjoying the new carpet smell, and in pleasant disbelief that yes, there would be a seat for everyone. No one even wanted to sit on it at first. Even now, if a student has a little mud on their shoes or pants, they ask to sit off to the side. This rug is a gift that will be enjoyed by countless students in years to come. As you can imagine, our class runs a lot more efficiently and productively too. Along with the rug, the organizers and sorters are perfect too. With the increased class size, my bins and organizers for 24 were obsolete. But not, everything has a place to be stored, making access easier for everyone. The sorters keep our whiteboards organized and within reach, when working on the beautiful rug! Thank you again OO.com for your commitment to schools and education, and for being our heroes. wOO-hOO for OO.com!

With gratitude,

First of all, let me start out by saying thank you for your participation in 'Give & Get'. We have seen an amazing outpouring of support and participation. It is truly an honor to be a part of something so special.

It is our ambition to fund as many projects for public schools in need as we possibly can. Based on that ambition as well as large amount of feedback we have received, we have decided to revise our weighting formula. Projects are now weighted based their cost as well as the number of projects that the teacher has requested.

A teacher's first project listed on 'Give & Get' will not require any additional votes unless the project costs over $1,000.00. Any other project will require proportionally more votes based on the cost of the project and the number of projects that have been requested by the teacher.

Project Cost Projects Requested Votes Proportional Votes
A $600.00 1 100 100
B $2,000.00 1 100 50
C $600.00 2 100 25
D $600.00 3 100 12
E $2,000.00 3 100 6
F $3,000.00 3 100 3

In the example table, project A costs less than $1,000 and it is the first project that the teacher has requested. The votes for that project are not weighted. Project B costs over $1,000, but the teacher has not previously requested any projects. This project will be weighted based on its cost alone. Projects E and F both cost over $1,000 and the teachers have previously requested two other projects. Those projects will be weighted based on cost and the number of prior requested projects.

We are constantly striving to make 'Give & Get' better and more fair for everyone. As always, please continue to send us your thoughts/feedback and we can continue to improve.

LATEST UPDATE (06/08/2012):
Weighting now takes into consideration all active requested projects and requires proportionally more votes for previously funded projects.
