Reducing Our Carbon Footprint With Boogie Boards

A Special Thank You from Ms. Martinez
We just received our Boogie Board tablets the other day, and I must say my students were excited beyond belief. They couldn't believe that someone would be so kind and generous. They don't understand how someone could be so invested in the education of someone else specially when they have never met them. We have used the tablets to practice our spelling words. We've also used them during math time to practice basic addition facts. However, the best part about having Boogie Board tablets is NO WHITE BOARDS! And no more, "teacher I don't have an eraser, or my marker is dried up, or I can't find my white board." Thank you for helping us reduce our carbon footprint! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

With gratitude,
Ms. Martinez

First of all, let me start out by saying thank you for your participation in 'Give & Get'. We have seen an amazing outpouring of support and participation. It is truly an honor to be a part of something so special.

It is our ambition to fund as many projects for public schools in need as we possibly can. Based on that ambition as well as large amount of feedback we have received, we have decided to revise our weighting formula. Projects are now weighted based their cost as well as the number of projects that the teacher has requested.

A teacher's first project listed on 'Give & Get' will not require any additional votes unless the project costs over $1,000.00. Any other project will require proportionally more votes based on the cost of the project and the number of projects that have been requested by the teacher.

Project Cost Projects Requested Votes Proportional Votes
A $600.00 1 100 100
B $2,000.00 1 100 50
C $600.00 2 100 25
D $600.00 3 100 12
E $2,000.00 3 100 6
F $3,000.00 3 100 3

In the example table, project A costs less than $1,000 and it is the first project that the teacher has requested. The votes for that project are not weighted. Project B costs over $1,000, but the teacher has not previously requested any projects. This project will be weighted based on its cost alone. Projects E and F both cost over $1,000 and the teachers have previously requested two other projects. Those projects will be weighted based on cost and the number of prior requested projects.

We are constantly striving to make 'Give & Get' better and more fair for everyone. As always, please continue to send us your thoughts/feedback and we can continue to improve.

LATEST UPDATE (06/08/2012):
Weighting now takes into consideration all active requested projects and requires proportionally more votes for previously funded projects.
