Sitting Tall

A Special Thank You from Mrs. Bresson
We have received the stools to go with our stand up desks and I cannot tell you what a difference they have made in our classroom! The students graciously take turns sharing the desks and stools. It was wonderful to see them come up with a system so that everyone will get an equal turn. When I asked the students how they liked the desks and stools, they said they loved them. One boy said it helped him keep focus while doing his work. It is remarkable how one simple tool can transform how a student learns. I have watched these same students put so much work into concentrating on doing their work, that they had no energy left to actually do the work once they were in a position to concentrate. This desk has allowed students to instantly focus on the task at hand. They are able to complete tasks in a timely manner which allows them to have more time to learn! Thank you again for your kindness. You have helped transform how my students learn. This desk would not be possible without your selfless gift!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Bresson

First of all, let me start out by saying thank you for your participation in 'Give & Get'. We have seen an amazing outpouring of support and participation. It is truly an honor to be a part of something so special.

It is our ambition to fund as many projects for public schools in need as we possibly can. Based on that ambition as well as large amount of feedback we have received, we have decided to revise our weighting formula. Projects are now weighted based their cost as well as the number of projects that the teacher has requested.

A teacher's first project listed on 'Give & Get' will not require any additional votes unless the project costs over $1,000.00. Any other project will require proportionally more votes based on the cost of the project and the number of projects that have been requested by the teacher.

Project Cost Projects Requested Votes Proportional Votes
A $600.00 1 100 100
B $2,000.00 1 100 50
C $600.00 2 100 25
D $600.00 3 100 12
E $2,000.00 3 100 6
F $3,000.00 3 100 3

In the example table, project A costs less than $1,000 and it is the first project that the teacher has requested. The votes for that project are not weighted. Project B costs over $1,000, but the teacher has not previously requested any projects. This project will be weighted based on its cost alone. Projects E and F both cost over $1,000 and the teachers have previously requested two other projects. Those projects will be weighted based on cost and the number of prior requested projects.

We are constantly striving to make 'Give & Get' better and more fair for everyone. As always, please continue to send us your thoughts/feedback and we can continue to improve.

LATEST UPDATE (06/08/2012):
Weighting now takes into consideration all active requested projects and requires proportionally more votes for previously funded projects.
