First Honorary Kitchen Warrior: Guy Fieri
Who?
Guy Fieri, host of Food Network’s cooking show ‘Guy’s Big Bite’ has the dubious honor of being named our first official Kitchen Warrior.
Before we go too far with this, lets be clear. 1) Guy has no idea he has received this honor if for no reason other than 2) I just made it up this afternoon and 3) there is as good a chance as any that even if he DID know about our award he wouldn’t want it. I know I wouldn’t.
But it’s our award and we can give it to anyone we want. So why you ask not someone more obvious like say Alton Brown, my grandmother, your grandmother or my hillbilly friend who cooks 365 meals a year in a pressure cooker?
Well first off as far as Kitchen Warfare goes (the concept, not the blog) Alton’s an icon. The dean, the godfather. His likeness is everywhere on campus. Calling Alton a Kitchen Warrior is like calling Emmit Smith a football player. We all already know it. Grandmothers are out, lest we be accused of nepotism and my friend with the pressure cooker is more of a Corporal Klinger on his way to a Section 8 than he is a Kitchen Warrior.
Besides Guy’s show is on at 10am Sunday morning, a little exposure can’t hurt.
Why Guy?
I like his style. He’s real, he’s grounded and he teaches. Its done in a way that’s not too intimidating for those learning yet his ideas for food are interesting and he’s moving fast enough that the more experienced won’t get too bored with the pace. Plus he likes to stuff food inside of other food so he gets cool points for that. Additionally the approach of a Guy Fieri dish seems to be that all the ingredients are things that sound really good and he’s just trying to figure out a good delivery system to get them on your plate. Kitchen Warfare.
And Guy seems to be doing well. After winning the 2nd season of the Next Food Network star his initial run of 6 shows was done on such an obviously meager budget I didn’t think it had a chance. But they’re back with more shows and the set looks a lot better. Additionally Guy has a new show on the Food Network coming this April called Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives which to me sounds like they’re trying to build on the success of Alton Brown’s very enjoyable ‘Feasting on Asphalt’ series from last Summer.
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, if that’s not Kitchen Warfare I don’t know what is.

I like Guy’s cooking shows I try and watch it as much as I can. Why He has very good recipes I am always trying to find easy recipes, because me and my husband work all day. I like to cook a lot of things up on the weekends and freeze them and my husband has something to run home to for lunch, and has time in 1 hour to thaw and eat during his lunch time. It is easy on me to fix easy fast dishes on the week ends. I like the meat loaf recipe that has the corn bread stuffing in the middle. Its greeat. I would love to get more recipes from Guy .
